And perhaps with good reason.The pushback really boils down to distrust of the gaming companies’ intent. Done improperly, NFT’s can squeeze ongoing payments from customers who have already purchased the game. But when properly deployed, NFT’s can enhance the game’s user experience and increase the game’s value through real-life financial benefit. Again, the differentiation is the gaming company’s intentYet in all of this, it is easy to forget just how early Cornucopians are to this emerging movement. The truth is that many sectors of society will soon come to integrate NFT technology despite any initial resistance. Our first mint was bombarded by an army of scammers spamming links to a fake sale page. There was even a scammer who dared to impersonate MATT (Indiana Jones#1587) on Discord! Do not be fooled by scammers. Do not let anyone you know be fooled by scammers. We are the Corn Fam, and we need to have each other’s backs. Remember, watch out for scammers, and please... DO NOT SEND ADA TO THE MINT ADDRESS (OR ANY OTHER ADDRESS FOR THAT MATTER)! In order to protect the community from scammers, each communication channel has developed the following lockdown protocols. Please familiarize yourself with them. Discord Lockdown Protocol: All Discord channels will enter slow mode 2 hrs before the NFT sale. We’ve made the decision to bypass any WordPress site layers and funnel minters directly to our NFT delivery system hosted by Derp Birds. This should prevent the frustration many users experienced during our first mint when the landing page hosted by Cornuopias.io crashed. We have also load-tested our NFT delivery system with a much higher volume of test minters to ensure it can withstand the demand, however, the demand is variable. It is not possible to test millions of API calls and all variables when the demand gets as high as we anticipate it is going to be. As the mint progresses, the Cornucopias Communication Team will provide updates. How to mint NFTs for the Cornucopias gaming metaverse project & what to expect during an NFT mint

In preparation for an upcoming YouTube interview with the<a href="https://www.youtube.com/c/MetaMoney" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> Meta Money</a> channel, I was asked to consider the following question:“Is there anything you would like to discuss on the call?”Anyone who has seen my interviews knows that I like to add new bits of information to each video I make. I found myself replaying moments from the trip to Canary Wharf in my mind. Then, from out of nowhere, an old memory popped into my head. It was an inspiring video about Smart Contracts created by Cardano founder, Charles Hoskinson, in 2020.It’s not the first time I had thought about Charles' video, and indeed it was part of the catalyst (pun intended to those in the know) that gave rise to “The Island” tagline in Cornucopias.All of a sudden my brain became supercharged with ideas -&nbsp; I became more sleep-deprived as I explored and drafted new thoughts about how to explain the metaverse. In the back of my head, I could hear the Meta Money interviewer asking me "Is there anything you would like to discuss on the call?"Now I finally had an answer:&nbsp;“Yes! I want to discuss what the metaverse is and how Cornucopias fits into it.”It took me quite some time to evolve and spin concepts from Charles' video and my own thoughts into a definition of the metaverse, but before I share it with you, I'd like to provide some context about the ideas that inspired my definition.&nbsp;<hr/><h2>A brief synopsis of Charles Hoskinson's “The Island, The Ocean and the Pond (Soon)"</h2>In the video titled <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8a6tX53YPs" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Island, The Ocean and the Pond (Soon)</a> Charles Hoskinson talks about Ethereum as the Pond, and describes it as “a petri dish to experiment with a lot of on-chain activity.” He goes into detail about various experimental languages and technologies including Ethereum Virtual Machines (EVMs) and describes scripting/programming languages, such as Solidity. Charles explains how all these technologies are trying to create a new disruptive world where smart contracts can replace real-world financial transactions.He goes on to suggest that the amount of developers in the Ethereum Pond is tiny compared with the Ocean which represents over 15 million java, .net, php, c, c++, and so on, traditional developers.However, the Ocean is not very interoperable with the Pond as the required tooling doesn’t exist. So the Pond is great for experimenting but it is not ready for mainstream development and there is no long-term strategy to unite the Ocean and the Pond in any way. Charles makes references to how code written in the Pond is not production-ready and hints at future issues if that code were to be adopted as a mainstream standard.I don't want to pour fuel on an already existing fire, but this needs to be said: It has been 2 years since Charles' video was released, and it is common knowledge that Ethereum is well known for widespread smart contract hacking. Over 10 billion dollars have been stolen from smart contracts due to loopholes written into their fundamental structure. This is because the Solidity language was not built with adequate checks and balances.Additionally, the community of Ethereum developers is encouraged to copy and paste chunks of Solidity code in the mantra of “Move fast and break things.” This is a great mantra, but when it comes to cryptocurrency (which holds real-world value and in some cases peoples' life savings), not knowing you are investing and transacting with your money in a hackable ecosystem is not great at all!It's bad for individual users, and for the crypto industry in general.<iframe src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/k8a6tX53YPs' style='width:100%; height: 600px;'></iframe><h3 style='text-align:center'><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8a6tX53YPs" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Charles Hoskinson's infamous "SOON" video​</a></h3>Charles elaborates on his metaphor: "The magical Island exists (in the Ocean) where the things that you build, they work right the first time, and it’s just beautiful. It’s a happy place."He recognizes the experiment is important, but to attract mass adoption and sustainability, smart contracts have to be secure. They have to be designed in such a way that developers from the Ocean can use development tools they are already familiar with to get started. He then offers the new purpose-built Cardano smart contract language called Plutus, which is built on top of Haskell, as a solution that developers will hopefully adopt.The Cardano tooling available in Plutus will have many tools built-in by default to try and mitigate bad development practices from happening in the first place. After all, part of Cardano's vision is to replace the current financial system with a decentralized, self-governing ecosystem.To quote a great book I once read called Switch: How to Change Things When Change Is Hard by Dan &amp; Chip Heath you need to “Shape the Path” of the developer. Doing so could enhance these&nbsp; "potentially related development" worlds and create a beautiful place where opportunities for new adventures can exist in a well thought out, forward-thinking, future-proof, ever-evolving environment.<hr/><h2>How this metaphor applies to the Legacy Internet &amp; Metaverse</h2>Charles' elaborate metaphor is the perfect way to think about the metaverse's structure within the crypto space, the emerging blockchain gaming space, and the mainstream gaming space.&nbsp;However, in order to fully define the metaverse, we have to first look at the current legacy internet. It is made up of millions of websites, but you wouldn't call a single website the internet, would you? Each website is built mainly on Microsoft Windows or Linux operating systems and has some form of databases such as MySQL, SQL, Server, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, etc.Websites are stand-alone or they can pull in bits and pieces from other websites such as a Twitter feed or an RSS feed. Users can jump from one website to another by clicking on weblinks. All of these moving pieces come together to create the legacy internet.&nbsp;Within the legacy internet, we have the Pond, which in my illustration represents everything in the Blockchain space, not just Ethereum or Cardano. There are roughly 100 million people worldwide buying, selling, and trading cryptocurrencies. There are roughly 2.5 billion gamers worldwide who play games in arcades, on home computers, consoles, tablets, and mobile phones. Gaming can be done alone or with one's friends in real life or via the internet. Traditional gamers are used to paying to play games. They are used to buying add-ons such as downloadable characters or in-game skins or weapons.This money, once spent, is locked away in the game forever.Within this context metaverse projects, like Cornucopias, are the&nbsp;Island. We are trying to unite the blockchain community and traditional gamers in a virtual utopia where they can play, build and learn together. Cornucopias' metaverse project will be a free-to-play game that will be available on PC, desktop, mobile, consoles, and Smart TVs. Gamers will be rewarded with NFT assets that they can sell for real-life money. Players will also be rewarded for learning new skills in a fun and exciting environment.&nbsp;<hr/><h2>Defining "The Metaverse"</h2>Finally, all of these different pieces come together to create the metaverse. I like to think of the metaverse as a second layer that sits on top of the internet. It's like a Web 3.0 app, but I believe there's much more to it than that:<ul> <li>It's a transformation of the 2D flat internet to 3D immersive spaces</li> <li>You will have millions and millions of Metaverse Islands that form The Metaverse&nbsp;</li> <li>For example Decentraland, The Sandbox or Cornucopias are all Metaverse Islands</li> <li>Each Island, just like a website, can be built on a specific blockchain technology such as the Ethereum Blockchain or Cardano or the Binance Smart Chain</li> <li>Each Metaverse Island will have its own form of native digital currency which is transferable back to its Layer 1 parent</li> <li>Each Metaverse Island can be interoperable with other Islands, and gamers' digital assets and even their avatars can be shared using NFT technology</li> <li>Gamers will be able to jump to or be teleported from one Metaverse Island to another</li> <li>Everything you own in the metaverse is yours and you can sell or trade your things whenever you want</li> <li>Gamers, educators, and commercial businesses will flood to be part of this new Web 3.0 paradigm because unexplored opportunities are everywhere</li></ul>To sum it all up: The Metaverse is the natural evolution of the Internet and human interactivity where everything is decentrally owned by the people.<hr/><h2>Final Thoughts</h2>The metaverse we think we know or are building today will evolve rapidly into something very different as hardware and software become faster, smaller, portable, connected, and more powerful. There were two bottlenecks on our databases caused by the massive influx of visitors. Throughout the sale’s duration, our website received 7.2 million API calls!Without getting too technical, our systems were simply overloaded at the starting gate. Even with real-time adjustments, it took a while to get back up to full speed.On the bright side, the collective demand for Cornucopias’ NFTs is no longer speculative. It is real, and it will take our metaverse project camping on the beaches of the moon.<hr/><h2>Y’all are legendary, and it was a glorious battle!</h2> If you minted a limited First Edition Bubblejett Sprinter take a moment to celebrate your victory. The mint survived waves of scammers and many thousands of people, who crashed the landing page. A direct link to the mint had to be fired off at the last moment. It was an emergency decision that provided a new entry point into the sale within minutes of the landing page crashing. As soon as problems emerged, the Cornucopias &amp; Derp Birds teams, who were on a live call together, were able to troubleshoot and take action. Despite the market frenzy, our systems did not go down, and we did not have to cancel the mint. By the end of the sale, things were moving along very quickly. This mint was a stunning success from an NFT sale perspective. It was also a powerful learning experience from a UX point of view. We’ve learned from our mistakes, and we are committed to making the next sale as smooth and painless as possible.<hr/><h2>Now let’s focus on why everyone should be ECSTATIC. </h2>Despite the difficult mint, 11,900 Bubblejett Sprinters priced at 120 ADA each were completely sold out. Cornucopias’ First NFT Sale Raises ₳1.3 Million In Under 3 1/2 Hours!

<h2>Cornucopias’ new single asset stake pool is live. </h2> Hello Cornucopians! It’s been a minute since our last edition, but the COPIWatch team is back to bring you the latest news from within the <a href="https://www.cornucopias.io/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Cornucopias’ metaverse project.</a> With that being said, we’re excited to announce the opening of a brand new <a href="https://tokensfarm.com/copi/staking/2" target="_blank" rel="noopener">single asset staking pool</a> for COPI token holders! Our current pool has seen phenomenal success, with close to 90 million COPI tokens staked and a growing number of tokens added to the pool by the day. The current staking pool will be over in about a month, and the Cornucopias team wants to encourage as many COPI token holders as possible to participate in the new stake pool. Please note that we are not suggesting that you unstake unless you have met the requirements for your rewards. As vested tokens become unlocked from our launchpad and pre-sale events, now is the perfect time to add liquidity to the new stake pool so you can earn passive rewards while you HODL your COPI.<hr/><h2>New stake pool important facts:</h2>Cornucopias’ new single asset stake pool went live on February 10th, 2022. We will be collaborating with Tokensfarm again, so nothing will change about the staking process or the user interface. The main difference is that the new pool will last for 90 days as opposed to its predecessor’s 61-day lifespan. Also, the new minimum staking time required to receive APY rewards is 60 days instead of 45 days. This pool will also be subject to dynamic APY, which means that the APY will adjust to the number of stakers in the pool. More stakers = less APY, but also a stronger, more robust COPI token network. It is important to note that these assets will not automatically roll over into the new pool. If you want to put these assets to work in the new staking program, you will have to manually withdraw them from the previous pool and then deposit them in the new pool. Either way, as long as you have COPI to contribute and BNB in your wallet to cover transaction fees, you’re all set to participate in the new stake pool! <hr/><h2>Why HODL when you can STAKE? </h2>There are many advantages to contributing your COPI tokens to the community’s stake pool, the least of which is that it's an easy way to create a stream of passive crypto returns by earning APY. Granted, the APY earned from staking COPI is less than if you were to stake LP tokens through our farm yielding program, but the process is much easier. Additionally, single asset staking carries no risk of impermanent loss, and you can withdraw your original assets at any time.In the end, perhaps the best thing about staking your COPI is that is it a tangible, and perhaps the easiest and most productive way to demonstrate your support for the amazing things this metaverse project is trying to accomplish. By playing enjoyable games the player will be able to earn cryptocurrency which in turn can be converted into real-life currency. Imagine being paid to play a game!<h4>Build-to-Earn</h4>The game allows players to craft their own NFT such as furniture or tools and mint them into ‘Island Blueprints’. Other players can then buy, gather the materials, and then craft in-game into a brand new NFT.The new build-to-earn gameplay combined with the play-to-earn mechanic that the Cornucopias team are championing will take gameplay to a whole new level, and new economies will emerge from budding entrepreneurs coding and earning like never before.<h4>Learn-to-Earn</h4>Cornucopias are teaming up with some of the best educational centers in the world to build learning into the metaverse (More to come soon on an upcoming partnership with <a href="http://ebu.lu" target="_blank" rel="noopener">European Business </a>University). Players ahem students will be able to enjoy learning via our educational centers and earn rewards through playing education mini-games.<h4>Stake-to-Earn</h4>There will be opportunities to stake and earn passive income and NFTs in Cornucopias giving you risk free items you can use in-game or sell on the open marketplaces.<h2>The Player</h2>Character creation is key to the journey of players with a list of customization options. The main character can be customized to your liking by changing its facial features, body shape, hair etc.In Q1 2022 an early web browser version will allow you to customize your face and see your NFT’s you hold in your wallet, which will be linkable to your player account.Character outfits and accessories are optional and are also a great way to customize your character. These can be bought and sold as NFT’s and are not locked to the game. New outfits will be available in the marketplace to keep your player looking fresh. Furthermore, player created outfits can be sold amongst the community.&nbsp;Some rewards earnt from participation can be displayed directly on your character.&nbsp;We will be partnering with many of your favorite Cardano NFT projects, and you’ll be able to show off your rarest NFT’s that you hold in your wallet by displaying them on a badge or on a backpack on your character.&nbsp; Partners to be announced soon – get in touch if you are an NFT provider and want to join our Partner Network.&nbsp;<h4>Mounts</h4>Mounts are coming to Cornucopias. These will be animals or creatures that your character will be able to ride alone (or with a friend on some mounts) to get around the game quicker. Some mounts will have the ability to fly, some will be super quick on land and others will be able to swim - perhaps some will have a mixture of traits?<h4>Crafting</h4>Throughout the game the player will be able to craft items that will help them progress through the game or add to their inventory and be used or sold later. Some of these items will aid questing and improve the performance or abilities of the player and others will be NFT based items that can be sold or traded. This requires a process of gathering, looting or purchasing materials which will then be crafted.<h4>Zones</h4>Cornucopias is divided into diverse zones each with their own unique theme. At the center lies a City Zone, The Urban Adventure, which operates as the central hub and living space for some of the players (you might just find an NFT mall there, with tons of different NFT vendors). The surrounding area and zones provide versatile landscapes to explore from lush Samurai Gardens, Wild West Frontiers and Farm Zones.<h4>Land</h4>Some of the land zones and cities can be subdivided further into neighborhoods with the lowest level being known as a land plot.&nbsp;Once a plot of land is owned by a player and depending on where the plot of land is located, it can be built upon to produce one of the following types of land plots:<ul> <li>RESIDENTIAL - this is a location where a players’ character can live and can be of many property types, such as a skyscraper, a block of flats, a mansion, a house, a flat, a tent, etc.</li> <li>COMMERCIAL - this is a location where a player can create a business type such as a large shop, a bank, a tavern, etc.</li> <li>INDUSTRIAL - this is a location that processes resources for the player such as wood, food, water, metal, etc.</li> <li>AGRICULTURAL - this is a location that provides resources for the player such as raw food and plants, etc.</li> <li>RECREATIONAL - this is a location that provides fun things for your player to do, such as exercise or relaxation.</li></ul>Further information will be announced later in the year.<h4>Mini-games</h4>Within each zone the player will come across a number of mini-games.
